The Vault In The Mix Presents: Shut Up & Let Me Mix - The Ting Tings Mixtape - A Mega Mix By THE BEATMEISTER

The Ting Tings is one of a few current bands, which definitely caught my attention. Along with their catchy lyrics and melodies, they definitely sound retro for me, having that 80's New Wave sound, like a young Altered Images (no wonder they did a cover of "Happy Birthday" from The Vault playlist), SSQ or Eighth Wonder, or whichever female-led old school band you might compare 'em to.

An English rock duo of Jules De Martino (drums, guitar, vocals, piano) and Katie White (born 1983) (vocals, guitar, bass drum), they are originally from Leigh, Greater Manchester (which probably explains their New Wave influence).

They formed in December 2007 while based at Islington Mill, Artist Studios in Salford. They have released four singles on their current label Columbia Records UK, including the single "That's Not My Name" which charted straight to Number 1 in the UK Singles Chart on 18 May 2008. The album We Started Nothing was released on 19 May 2008 and also charted at Number 1 in the UK.
