The Legion Of Boom - The Crystal Method Mega Mixx - A DJ Mix By THE BEATMEISTER

The Crystal Method is an American electronic music duo that was formed in Los Angeles, California by Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland in the early 1990s. They continued to release albums and toured through the 2000s, and their songs have appeared in numerous video games, commercials, and films. The duo also composed and recorded original film soundtracks. Their best-selling album, Vegas, was certified platinum in 2007.

Both of them were born in Las Vegas, Nevada.[1] Kirkland was born when his mother was only fifteen. He grew up listening to his mother's music, disco and his father's music, rock. When he had grown a little older, he began listening to Heavy metal, as well as bands like Depeche Mode. Ken Jordan also grew up listening to classic rock and '80s electronic as well. "excerpt from wikipedia"

Along with The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim and Prodigy, the dynamic duo of Kirkland and Jordan collectively known as The Crystal Method, completes the list of my all-time fave electronic artists. This MegaMixx contains tracks from their various albums, Divided By Night, Community Service, Vegas, London Movie Soundtrack, Drive-Nike Soundtrack, and Legion of Boom.

Sampled tracks played include Starting Over, Busy Child, High and Low, Comin' Back, Glass Breaker, Bound Too Long, Blunts & Robots and Dirty Thirty (feat. Peter Hook), Smile, Born Too Slow, Defective and more.

Totally Mixed Up Exclusive - Don't Disturb This Groove - The Definitive Date Mixtape - A DJ Mix By THE BEATMEISTER

After a long, very relaxing, enjoyable and quality weekend spent with my wife and family, it's time to change gears once more and slow things down a bit. This mix accompanied us when he had our usual weekly dinner date last Friday night and wifey definitely enjoyed every minute of it. She even was the one who coined the title for this week's mix as it really fit our night out very well.

Am sharing this "unique mix" once again and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as me and my wifey did. It's a collection of what I typically would play in my car when I was still trying to impress her and up to now, still worked its magic.

Tracklist:
1) Sailing (The Beatmeister Remix) - Christopher Cross
2) Roni - Bobby Brown
3) Tattooed On My Mind - D'Sound
4) Don't Disturb This Groove (12" Extended) - The System
5) That Girl Is Gone - David Pack
6) Is It You - Lee Ritenour
7) The Key To You - David Benoit feat. David Pack
8) Stay Awake - Ronnie Laws

What Is Real? - A Trip Back Into Minimal Tech - A Mix By DJ ALIANA

I listen to all kinds of stuff and sometimes go beyond my usual preferences just to broaden my musical horizon. This time, Totally Mixed Up presents this fresh and unique mix from our youngest and newest contributor to the blog, DJ Aliana.

A bedroom DJ, but daydreams a lot of being in a club one day and maneuvering those CDJs, DJ Aliana's earlier exposure to music was through those classical pieces she learned to play on both violin and piano. She also was in a band in her college days playing alternative stuff when she suddenly discovered those pulsating beats of electronic music and started hitting clubs, then eventually became obsessed with the likes of Daft Punk and the rest is history.

She was first into trance music then later progressed to deep house and techno, and finally settled down with minimal, which she describes was like her "home" in electronic music coz it was where she feels she really belongs. Lately, she has also been experimenting with electro house and dubstep, and fortunately, she says, the feedback she got from her online listeners wasn't bad.

As for her interest in mixing, she definitely got bitten by the DJ bug with the influence of a friend and fellow member of this group called "Novice," which supports the stand of a clean and vice-free party scene. She's also part of a label called "Dirty Droid Records," which is a sister of "Deeper Manila Records," both having big visions for the electronic music scene in the Philippines. She's been mixing for about a year-and-a-half now, she says, and "it's been the best span of time in her life so far."

One of her mixes was also be featured last week via http://abnormalfm.inmyradio.net/ . You've really come a long way. Great job!

And now for the tracklist and the mix set itself. Taken from her Soundcloud account here's DJ Aliana.

Here's a deeper and darker mixtape from me to you. :D Designed for a patient listener in a dark room. Not uplifting like my previous mix, but I hope you all feel me on this one.

Martin Buttrich - Programmer
Virtualmismo - Mismoplastico (Serge Santiago Maxi Edit)
Red Robbin & Jakob Hilden - Snapdragon (Original Mix)
Lindstrom - I Feel Space (M.A.N.D.Y. Remix)
KG - Zwanenburgbaan (Original Mix)
Deadmau5 - 1981 (Minimal Mix)
Moonbeam - Night Traffic (Original Mix)
Peter Horrevorts - Labyrinth Huggy and Dean Newton - 747 (Original Mix)
Sasha - Coma (Gabe & Dimitri Nakov Remix)

It goes up and down, always trying to stay minimal, then ends with a classic to bring you home. Ride with me. =)

Please let me know what you think. Comments will be highly appreciated. =D

What is Real? by aliana

I suggest you try out this cool, minimal set from DJ Aliana if you want something new and different music-wise and please do leave some comments if you enjoyed her set. This lady DJ would surely go places in the future and do stay tune for more of her mixes here on Totally Mixed Up and thanks much to DJ Aliana for sharing her good vibes!

In behalf of The Boy Wonder, Dean Andrew and the rest of The Vault DJs, a big shout out and thanks to everyone who tuned in last Saturday/Sunday as the recorded listeners soared insanely high worldwide, which was the reason for some of the dropouts, which is definitely good news as relayed to me by The Boy Wonder himself. Hope some of you were able to catch the replay earlier this morning Manila and Sunday afternoon U.S.

A Totally Mixed Up Exclusive - Last Night A DJ Saved My Life - The Disco-Diamond Mix - A DJ Mix By THE BOY WONDER

Here's somethin' to perk up and start your week right... more FRESH RETRO DISCO goodies.

A special mix compiled, mastered and created by no less than The Vault main man, The Boy Wonder, back on the (digital) wheels of steel and mixing exclusively for Totally Mixed Up.

I'm really quite excited and proud to share a different kind of mix from him, as his usual forte is 80s New Wave and obscure tunes, but this time, he's experimenting on some 80s disco/pop stuff and also in digital mode. ( i guess he was somewhat bitten by the digital bug like most of us, hehehe) and as expected... voila! still an incredible set that he delightfully shared to all Totally Mixed Up followers and visitors alike.

This just proves once more that precise mixing, definitely, is The Boy Wonder's second nature no matter what equipment he uses and take my word for it...
your iPOD or car audio will love you for playing it. Another must-have for 80s disco/pop lovers with the playlist ranging from Janet Jackson, Snap, and Jody Watley to name a few.
So grab 'em while it's FRESH and HOT!!

Click on PLAY for the mix sample or The Boy Wonder's PIC to DL for your iPOD.

Your comments are most welcome if you enjoyed today's superset!! Now it's time to show some love for your DJs.

A Tribute To The Original Rhythm Of The City 99.5 RT - A Slow Retro Mix Volume 3 - A DJ Mix By THE BEATMEISTER

*Originally known as 99.5 RT from 1976 to 2006, as Hit 99.5 from 2007 to March 19, 2008, and as Campus 99.5 from March 23 to August 14, 2008. On September 1, 2008, the frequency reverted back to the 99.5 RT brand.
99.5RT back then was Manila's answer to Los Angeles' KPWR Power 106 and KIIS FM.

*It was in 1976 when 99.5 RT first went on the air. It was then operated by Trans-Radio Broadcasting Corp. (now GVM Radio/TV Corporation, currently operating Rock 990, Cebu's Y 101 & Butuan's Majik 97.5, RT's original sister station). Controlled by the Tuason family, since its inception until 1996, 99.5 RT then transferred ownership to Real Radio Network.

Its studios were located for most of its existence on Ayala Avenue in the central business district of Makati, at one time in Pacific Bank Building, then later moved to Royal Match Building. In April 1999, it was moved to its present location at the Paragon Plaza Building, along EDSA, Mandaluyong City.

*99.5 RT was considered as one of the FM radio stations to set the trend in using the Contemporary Hit Radio format first popularized in the United States, commonly known as "Pop" or "Top 40". RT first began broadcasting in 1976 under the helm of Emilio Tuason, who also became one of the deejays (his on-air name was "ET"), until personal problems forced his retirement from the station in the 1980s.

*Most of Metro Manila's legendary deejays honed their skills in RT, including Mike Pedero, who initiated the Top 40/CHR format of the station, Joppy, Al W. Leader, Dr. John Madness, Eric Caine, Adam Kite, Brian Panty, Joey Pizza, The Kaizer, Johnny Ceasar (now with RJ 100), Jeremiah Junior, Bob Kcurry, The Mighty Thor, Paul Reno, North Andrew (now Program Director of MTV Philippines), Jake Swann, Boo Kyler (now with 103 1/2 Max FM), Jiggy, OB Hollywood Andrew, Dick Rees, Joe Schmoe, Mark Cross, Joshua and Vince St. Price. The RT deejay became the gold standard for all other deejays in the Philippines.

The shows of Eric Caine, North Andrew, Boo Kyler and Vince St. Price namely my faves as they have the best playlist.

Incidentally, Eric Caine is my mom's cousin, which makes him my second-degree uncle... hmmm... just suddenly realized why I have this great passion for music, DJ'ing/mixing and radio. A big thanks to The Boy Wonder of The Vault for giving me the opportunity to be in radio even though in an indirect way via my mixes/remixes/music archives being broadcasted via The Vault on Live 365.

*RT was also home to some of America's popular hit countdown shows like "American Top 40" and the "Rick Dees Weekly Top 40". In the early 80's (specifically 1983-1984), RT also ventured into the music-video business. As one of the pioneer music video shows in the Philippines, "Rhythm Of The City" which aired on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm on then government-owned MBS Channel 4 (now NBN Channel 4), showcased then ground-breaking videos from artists such as Men At Work, Naked Eyes, Real Life, Michael Jackson, and some of the best acts in North America during a time when then-fledgling MTV had not yet established its presence in the Asian region.

It is also known for one of the best oldies shows in Philippine radio, 24K Friday playing the hits from the 70's, 80's and 90's.

It was also the first radio station in The Philippines to have ventured into having a home on the World Wide Web, launching its bulletin board in 1995.

Enjoy today's mix set c/o of yours truly, which is a sample of RT's playlist back in the day, when it was still in its heyday and playing the best music indeed. More music, less talk. I've compiled most of the tracks all heard from 99.5 RT, which usually accompanied me on my way to school or work and served as the soundtrack of my younger days.

*Special thanks to Wikipedia for the 99.5 RT info.
Tracklist:
1) Better Than You - Lisa Keith

2) Baby Baby - Amy Grant
3) Hold You Tight - Tara Kemp
4) Really Into You - Around The Way

Michael Jackson Special Remixes - Human Nature (The Beatmeister Remix)

This track from the biggest selling album in music history, "Thriller," is my ultimate fave Michael Jackson tune of all time. I've tried to give a dancehall touch to it by incorporating some reggaeton beats.

Human Nature" was incidentally written by Steve Porcaro of Toto and John Bettis for Michael Jackson's Thriller album. Initially, Porcaro recorded a rough demo of the song on a cassette. Fellow Toto band member David Paich then gave the demo, along with two songs written by Paich, to producer Quincy Jones, hoping they would be included on Thriller.

Jones didn't like Paich's songs, but enjoyed the rough demo of "Human Nature" at the end of the cassette. Jones explained, "All of a sudden, at the end, there was all this silence, there was: 'why, why, dah dah da-dum dah dah, why, why'. Just a dummy lyric and a very skeletal thing—I get goosebumps talking about it. I said, 'This is where we wanna go, because it's got such a wonderful flavour'". The producer asked if the song could be included on Jackson's album, to which Porcaro and Bettis agreed."Human Nature" was the last song selected for Thriller, ousting "Carousel" from the final track listing. (quoted from wikipedia)

Here's the bonus music video from this cool, cool track:

Now here's the preview of the last of the two remixes, I've recently produced in memory of a music genius, The King Of Pop, Michael Jackson. Enjoy!

Michael Jackson Special Remixes - Stranger In Moscow (The Beatmeister Remix)

This is one of the more recent Jacko songs, which I really love, so I decided to do a dance remix of this tune from his HIStory album. It was the fifth and final single, and was released worldwide in November 1996 but was not released in the US until August 1997. The track was written by Jackson in 1993, at the height of the highly publicized child abuse accusations made against him, while on tour in Moscow. In the ballad, Jackson sings of a fall from grace that has left him lonely, isolated, paranoid and on the verge of insanity.

"When the song was complete, and happy with the result, Jackson therefore decided to make the second disc of HIStory a full studio album, rather than a greatest hits compilation with several new tracks. Upon release "Stranger in Moscow" was praised by critics, today it remains one of his most critically acclaimed pieces. Commercially the single saw mixed results by Jackson's standards, but the highly successful album had already been on the market nearly 18 months and numerous A-side, B-side and radio only singles had already been released to a positive commercial reception.

The song's music video depicts the lives of six individuals, including Jackson, who are left isolated and disconnected from the world around them. The imagery in the video has been replicated in television adverts." (excerpt from Wikipedia).

Here's the exceptional music video of Stranger In Moscow from The King Of Pop.

Now here's the dance remix of Stranger In Moscow, which I recently produced in memory of the late great MJ.

Right Here, Right Now - A Fatboy Slim Compilation Mix - A Mega Mix By THE BEATMEISTER

Been out of the blogosphere for sometime due to some unforeseen events and am just glad to be back once again with this simple tribute to one of my favorite DJs of all time.

Norman Quentin Cook (born Quentin Leo Cook, 16 July 1963), better known by his stage name Fatboy Slim is a British DJ, big beat artist, producer and pioneer of the electronic dance genre which achieved mainstream popularity in the 1990s. Cook has achieved considerable success in the UK charts, performing as Fatboy Slim and with his previous 80s New Wave band, The Housemartins, The Housemartins, and also electronic and acid jazz artists, Beats International and Freak Power. He currently performs as the Brighton Port Authority, which is also the newest alias for this multifaceted performer.

Here's a simple straight-up megamix of almost all of his hits (remixed by the world's top DJs/remixers), which I did some three months back. Another must-hear for any Fatboy Slim or dance music fan.

Tracklist:

2) Love Island (Manumission Mix)

3) Don't Let The Man Get You Down (Justice Mix)
4) Fucking In Heaven (Simons GT Mix)
