A Taste Of Hed Kandi - Let There Be House

Back to music and stuff. For anyone who's a house music afficionado, the UK record label, Hed Kandi, is a very familiar term. It has become one of the most popular labels particularly associated with house and dance music, much like what Def Jam recordings has done for the hip-hop scene.

Hed Kandi has become widely recognized for its uber-cool compilation albums, which deliver serious dance music. A very familiar description is their trademark rad, retro-sexy album covers with their classy, cartooned chicks and slick, eye candy illustrations. Behind the hip label is its founder, DJ and A&R man, Mark Doyle. Formed in early 1999, Hed Kandi was fittingly named after Doyle's popular 4-hour radio show on London's Jazz FM 102.2 every Saturday night. He states, "it's the perfect cure for self-inflicted insomnia."
