Norman Cook threw a beach party and 200,000 people turned up. "Dance music is dead!" cried newspapers in 2002 in the UK. Luckily, Norm was around to make them eat their words. On the sunniest day of 2002, Fatboy Slim, John Digweed, and Midfield General played to the equivalent of two Glastonburys on Brighton Beach. There were fireworks, fake snow showers and the biggest ever sing-along to "Just Won't Do" on record. It finished half an hour early when the police shat themselves about what to do with so many people leaving the beach at once. Norm's beach party will go down in history as the day Brighton's favourite Fatboy stopped a city in is tracks.
From funky disco (my last post) to funky house, this is what today's mix is all about. Most of the tracks in today's tracklisting were played in this Fatboy monster gig. Having watched the DVD, he really brought the house down literally (or should I say the beach down), as a humongous crowd showed up and danced all day and all night to their hearts delight.

Like Ben Watt (of EBTG), Norman Cook a.k.a. Fatboy Slim also reinvented himself from a simple bassist of the 80s New Wave group, The Housemartins to a well-loved remixer (famous for remixing a handful of artists including A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, The Chemical Brothers, James Brown, and even the defunct local Filipino band, Kulay) and superstar DJ, producer, and artist.
I've decided to make this mix as some sort of my personal tribute to Fatboy Slim, as he's been a major influence of mine in the DJ craft.
Now for today's tracklist:
1) Central Reservation - Beth Orton (Ben Watt Remix)
2) Make Luv - Room 5 (The Beatmeister Remix) - used in one of AXE's commercials
3) Pink Life - Gyskard
4) Waiting For You - Funky People feat. Matt Jamison - this one samples the Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney hit
5) Fascinating Rhythm - Bassomatic (2006 House Shaker Remix)
7) Pop A Cap In Your Ass - Ben Watt feat. Estelle (Full Mix)
8) Makes Me Love You - Eclipse (Morning Star Mix) - classic house tune!

15) Let Me Show You - Camisra vs. Sandy B. - another track in the DVD
16) Superstylin - Groove Armada (Gabriel and Dresden Remix)

Napamahal pako Jeyb. I got it for 90 bucks pero matagal na, sa Riverbanks kasi sa Marikina.
Ganda yan Jeyb, sigurado. Listen to his remix of "Pure Shores" by All Saints. Galing sobra!
