A Joyful Rebellion - When Rock and Electronic Dance Music Collide

Let me take you once more to a different level in music. This time, let's see how the fusion of rock and electronic dance music would sound like.
It started back in the late 2002-2003 when it was still an underground club culture and was called different names; dance rock, disco punk, electro, electroclash, modern new wave, neo-new wave, synth punk, etc. They can call it anything they want, but for me, it's still good music and it's the most exciting development in the future of modern music.

It's like a revival of 80s New Wave given a twist and a modern sound. More and more new bands are once again discovering their roots and incorporating synthesized sounds to their tunes giving it a sort of retro feel. These electro stars and jock dirty rock bands are now into drum machines and disco beats. These hybrids offer many escape routes from the conformity of both rock and dance music.

Imagine this as sort of a mix between old and new, The Killers (one of my favorite bands at the moment) with The Sex Pistols (punk rules!!), The Bodyrockers with Midnight Oil, She Wants Revenge (are they the new Joy Division??) with David Bowie, and a lot more. Here, you'll hear stuff from these modern new wave bands alongside remixed and updated 80-90s rock and new wave tunes.

This compilation is like a rebellion from the usual norm of rock and dance music, as I try to bridge the gap between these 2 opposing genres and create a hybrid of new music. I also hope to bring out the angst in all of us with tunes like "Rebel, Rebel" from the legend, David Bowie, old school white rappers, The Beastie's "Fight For Your Right," and the lords of punk, Johnny Rotten and The Sex Pistols' "Anarchy In The UK."

Before we go to the mix, here's a weird & haunting video from She Wants Revenge, called "Tear You Apart." For me, they really sound like Joy Division. You judge....
