Pop Goes The World - Popular 80s Music Mix

Nope, it's not that catchy Men Without Hats' song. I just felt like this phrase would best describe today's mix upload.

The 80s was the best decade for popular music or "Pop Music" that is, as it gave birth to best selling albums like Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Culture Club's "Colour By Numbers" to one hit wonders on top of the charts like Harold Faltermeyer's "Axel F" and Denise Williams' "Let's Hear It For The Boy," which was also included in the hip 80s movie, "Footloose." The soundtrack produced plenty of hits including Shalamar's "Dancing In The Sheets" and also the title track itself by Kenny Loggins.

In this mix, I've also included some popular new wave tracks, which crossed over to mainstream like When In Rome's, "The Promise" and "Heaven Knows," Red Flag's "Russian Radio," Camouflage's "The Great Commandment," Depeche Mode's "Strange Love," and New Order's "Dont Do It."

Most of these tracks are memorable to me as I've used them frequently in my sets when I used to DJ for my friend's mobile back in the day. These were the dance anthems then and as a sort of my personal tribute to these tracks, I've remixed most of them myself to make it sound more interesting.

And now, for today's tracklist:
1) That's What Love Can Do - Boy Krazy (R&B Mix) - thanks to Rene for this superb track!!
2) P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) - Michael Jackson (The Beatmeister Remix)
3) Billie Jean - Michael Jackson (The Beatmeister Remix)
4) Der Kommissar - After The Fire (Hot Tracks Mix)

8) Oh Sheila - Ready For The World (Ultimix)

10) Miss Me Blind - Culture Club (Misty's Blue Lite Mix)
11) Into The Grove - Madonna (Extended Version)
12) Dancing In The Sheets - Shalamar (12" Extended Version) - very rare extended mix; I still have this on vinyl!!

13) With Every Beat Of My Heart - Taylor Dayne (Ultimix)
14) What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy) - Information Society (12" Extended Version) - love this song
15) The Promise - When In Rome (The Beatmeister Remix)

21) Borderline - Madonna (Extended Dance Mix)
22) Catch Me (I'm Falling) - Pretty Poison (12" Extended Mix)
23) Axel F - Harold Faltermeyer (1985 M&M Mix) - thanks to my buddy, Fexy, for this track; am quite disappointed on how they murdered it with that annoying crazy frog!
24) Only In My Dreams - Debbie Gibson (Hot Tracks Mix) - some bubblegum music
25) Change Of Heart - Cindy Lauper (12" Extended Mix) - most underrated song from Cindy; nice track from her

Experience a sense of utmost nostalgia in the mix!!

Great track listing! Reminds me of my days back at La Salle (88-91). Wow. That was a long time ago.

Hey Mike!

Thanks man! Am glad you enjoyed them. It's nice to bring back memories esp. from your school days. I'm also from an exclusive school in Marikina and me and my buddies in school are also into these types of music during that time.

Nice to hear from fellow Filipinos based abroad. Please continue to visit.

Cheers!
